Why join us? Advantages
Advantages
The creation of SCORE LCA reflects the desire of several entities which, aware of the challenges associated with the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) method and drawing on their experience in this field, wanted to establish a shared research dynamic between the various interested stakeholders. They thus aspire to advance the LCA methodology and, more generally, environmental quantification so that it can respond in a more relevant, effective and operational manner to the current and future needs of the scientific community.
The members of the association can thus:
- exchange feedback on their practices in order to be more effective internally within the association’s network;
- have privileged access to best practices derived from research findings, on an annual programme basis, and thus develop their practices;
- contribute to the skills development of teams attending studies and workshops;
- benefit from preferential rates for training courses provided by SCORE LCA (topics defined by members according to their needs).
The choice of cooperative operation
The Principle
SCORE LCA is based on cooperative operation between members. This is made possible in particular by the deliberately non-competitive nature of the topics included in the annual research programme (research on environmental assessment methodology).
This type of cooperative approach has already been tried and tested for over 30 years within the RECORD association ( Cooperative Research for the environment and circular economy, www.record-net.org), where it has proven its effectiveness and value for member companies and organisations.

The advantages of collaborative operation
The Benefits
Cooperative operation offers multiple advantages for members:
- Sharing of costs associated with research work (conducted according to a programme developed by member entities) and scientific monitoring, which are reduced for each member.
- Optimisation of added value: research topics are selected by consensus and then examined in detail, drawing on the knowledge and experience of all members and with the support of a Scientific Board; the best scientific teams are selected to conduct each study; the participation of members in monitoring these studies makes it possible to aim for the construction of shared reference frameworks for economic actors and the recognition of best practices; Finally, the collective dimension of the structure allows for the active exploitation and promotion of research results at both national and international level.
- Opportunity for privileged exchanges: participation in the Monitoring Committees of the various research projects provides opportunities for privileged exchanges with the external scientific teams in charge of the projects, as well as with other members and the Scientific Board of SCORE LCA. A workshop for exchanges between members is also organised once a year.
- Time invested exclusively in scientific content: members involved in project monitoring are thus relieved of the often time-consuming aspects of project management (practical, administrative and financial aspects associated with publishing a call for tenders, day-to-day project management and project closure, etc.).
- Membership of a network: membership of the Association effectively means belonging to a network that promotes exchanges between companies and other scientific and institutional players interested in research in the field of LCA, whether at national or international level.
